Happy Halloween

Today is Halloween, and sadly I wasn’t able to churn out any horror/Halloween related content this year. With that being said, the most successful blog post here at Fat Kids (and it’s not even close) is my recap of the Family Matters Halloween episodes, which I originally wrote for an older blog. Had I known it was going to be as popular as it was (over 2,500 unique views this month) I definitely would have spent a bit more time on it all those years ago. 🙂 Maybe next year I’ll freshen it up some.

Anyway, I thought I’d link to our various Halloween posts here at Fat Kids, in case you are looking for some last-minute Halloween reading, as well as offer a couple of recommendations for movies to watch this evening. Let’s begin with the recommendations

There are two films I watched this holiday season that really stood out to me, and they are very different.

The first recommendation, and one I’d give for just about anybody is Totally Killer streaming Amazon Prime. Totally Killer is a slasher movie influenced by Back to the Future. I’d recommend going in as blind as possible, but in a nutshell it’s about a young woman who goes back to the 80’s, where her mother and her friends were attacked by a killer. The film is lighthearted, has a great eighties look and feel, and is very funny. While not appropriate for children, I could most teens and adults really enjoying this. It’s arguably the most fun I’ve had watching a movie all year.

The second recommendation is the opposite of Totally Killer. The film I recommend is When Evil Lurks and its streaming on Shudder. This Argentinian film is in Spanish but tells the story of a rural community and possession. Again, I recommend going in blind as possible for the most enjoyment, but I warn you, this is not a film for the faint of heart. It’s vicious and the imagery will be burned into your skull. The movie is unsettling and well, I can’t even say it’s a great movie, but it’s the first horror movie in a long time that affected me after the credits rolled.
