Go To Movies!
I figured I should post something besides Championship Vinyl so In the spirit of summer and my desire to make top 5 lists here are my current Top 5 Go to movies. Since last September I have had four operations and spent a lot of time being immobile. I already suffer (sometimes enjoy) from insomnia so those nights I had to sleep on the couch proved to be prime movie watching times. I thought to myself if I could only watch five movies the rest of my life what would they be. So today, this is my list..
#5 – Forrest Gump
I make no apologies for this. I was a senior in high school when this movie came out and I was just fascinated by it. I was so excited when it came out to rent because I was working at a video store so I could watch it before it hit the shelf. I also remember actually buying a copy of Gump and wearing it out. It’s just a movie that no matter where you start it, it’s entertaining.
#4 Clerks
You can look in our archives to read my review and total love of this movie. This is a movie that represents so much of my early adulthood. While the language is a tad bad, the overall feel of Smith’s Opus is one of friendship and the freedom to just geek out with friends.
#3 Big Lebowski
As a life long fan of John Goodman I had to see this when I stumbled across it. It a cluster of confusion and awesome one liners. It actually inspired my “handle” jimabides. I don’t know about you but when I watch it I have the strange urge to go bowling,
#2 Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank is another movie I discovered while working at the video store. My co worker rented it and came in to her shift and automatically checked it out in my name and said watch this. I was so glad I did. This is a close to a perfect movie as you’re going to get. The character development of Andy and Red draws you an emotional connection to the characters. The ensemble cast add nothing but flavor and there is literally no wasted scenes or dialogue in this prison movie.
#1 High Fidelity
This is no surprise to anyone who knows me. I love John Cusack and this is a movie that speaks to me as a lover of retro and music. I would love to be be Rob Gordon the owner of Championship Vinyl. Making a living selling records to people like me… that’s the dream friends,
