Well after a very busy Easter Week I am so excited to finally publish episode 10! This was supposed to happen last week as April 15th was my sisters birthday. Sadly she left this earth almost two years ago. One of our common bonds was music so this list will be a tribute to my Sister Anna as I play some of the songs she loved. Plus one bonus!
Being my younger sister, she was a little behind on the musical times with me. However, she liked Hanson. While Mmmbop was they big hit, this was the song she would often pop in the tape player when I’d pick her up to take her to school or to her friend’s house.
Favorite Lyric: Cause Penny and me like to roll the windows down
Turn the radio up, push the pedal to the ground
Jewel was always on our bucket list of people to see. I remember getting this Cd for Christmas and Anna and I agreeing this was awesome. I made her a copy on cassette, and later bought her a copy. I wish we had made it to a show. My wife and I agree that one day we will catch Jewel live.
Favorite Lyric:Another day, another dollar,Another war, another tower
Much like Hanson this was a band I’d let her play in my truck. While I liked more of Hanson’s music, this song by Sister Hazel was on I enjoyed. Out of all the songs on this list, this is the one I can still here her sing along too.
Favorite Lyric: Words without a sound, Coming from your eyes
This song brings the best memory of my sister and I. This was the first concert Anna ever went to. I picked her up from school and we headed to the Dean Center in Chapel Hill NC. BNL were the head liners and it was probably the best concert I had ever attended. Too Little Too Late was the first song of their set and let me tell you she was hooked. Im putting a live version of this song on the bracket as their energy is phenomenal.
Favorite Lyric: I’m gaining strength, trying to learn to pull my own weight
But I’m gaining pounds at the precipice of too late
I just miss her today
sister, i hear you laugh
my heart fills full of love
keep me please
sister, when you cry
i feel your tears
running down my face
sister, sister keep me
I guess one of the things I miss is calling Anna when I had any Leppard News. With the new CD coming out the Lepps have given us a second song this week. It rocks and reminds me of the Rock Rock Til You Drop (<— Listen). I smiled from ear to ear when I heard it and wish I could have called her and made he listed over the phone.
Favorite Lyric:From two different worlds, We come crashing in
It’s like a brand new day, Stand shoulder to shoulder
Soldier to soldier, So show me the way
Thanks for taking the journey with me today!
See You Next time.. And there will be a next time!
